ABOUT ME
I was born in an ugly, beige-pink American hospital in Mexico City. I blame the hospital for my lifetime of curiosity, introspection, and a slight obsession with the topics of identity, culture, and belonging.
I left for college in California, swearing I would never return. But, as it happens, I missed the taste of fresh corn tortillas. 20 years of writing and teaching later, I still revel in the chalky smell of tortillas fresh off the comal.
I write about that strange mix of being one thing and another, but really neither. And both at the same time.
I love to read words that dance on a page. And I love to write words that sing.
